Carlton Cuse: “We Had Greater Plans For Ilana”
Cast and Crew of Lost, Interviews, Season 6
Damon & Carlton have been answering fans’ questions over at the NY Times for the last few days.
Question: You set up Ilana to be a significant character. You made us wonder about her backstory: why was she in the hospital? How did she meet Jacob? Then you made her a regular billed character in Season 6. But… then she died without accomplishing anything. Is that all we get? Please, tell us a bit more about her!
—Honest Broker, Chicago
Carlton Cuse: Ilana led a hard and tragic life but, alas, we can’t give you any more details here. We don’t want to create an Internet scavenger hunt by parceling out answers to unanswered “Lost” questions in various quarters of the Internet. Your questions are valid though. We had greater plans for Ilana but as we approached the end of the show we just didn’t have time to do more with her at the expense of the already established main characters.
Q: Will those of us who watched “Lost” faithfully over the years have our faith rewarded like the characters of the show? Locke died confused and without answers.
—Clay, Brooklyn
Damon Lindelof: Clay, excellent question. Really, REALLY excellent question.

The Long Goodbye: “What They Died For” Recap and Analysis by Chris Kirkman
LOST Theories, Recaps/Reviews, Season 6
Previously, on Lost: Sawyer screwed the pooch on the sub, sabotaging Shephard’s straight-shooting speech and subsequently sending Sayid towards suicide. The sub shook and shimmied and Shephard saved Sawyer, while Sun and her suitor sucked seawater and said sayonara. Shephard and the sole survivors soon sobbed.
This week, on Lost: As many a time before over the past six seasons, we open on an eye. Jack’s, to be exact. We soon see that he’s not waking up in a jungle, or trapped inside a Dharma aquarium, or bearded and hopped up on goofballs. No, this is AlternaJack, and he’s got quite the life, now. It’s morning in LA X, and Dr. Shephard makes his way to the bathroom. Once there, he notices something very peculiar, indeed.
Dude, you really need to stop eating PB&J in bed.
Little Jack Jr. interrupts his pop and says he’s made breakfast. They sit down to a big ol’ hearty bowl of Super Bran and it becomes quite obvious how Jack got his neck wound – he probably blew out a vein in the bathroom after all that fiber. David asks his dad if he’s coming to the concert tonight, and Jack says absozooberutely.

Sky1 to Simulcast LOST Series Finale
Season 6, Sky One
Good news for LOST fans from the UK:
On Monday 24 May, after six monumental seasons and 121 captivating episodes, the series that has provoked more theories, debates and analysis than any other, will reach its final hours on Sky 1 HD and Sky 1. Along with fans in six other countries outside of the US (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Turkey and Canada), UK viewers will be able to enjoy the world premiere of LOST’s thrilling conclusion as Sky1 HD air a live simulcast of the US transmission. The double bill finale, aptly entitled The End, will bring to a close the many unanswered mysteries that show producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have teased viewers with since 2004.
Stuart Murphy, Director of Programmes, Sky1 HD, Sky1, 2 and 3 commented: “We are proud of the fact that at Sky 1HD we have a long tradition of running all of our US shows as close as possible to their US TX date. With something as hotly anticipated as the LOST finale it makes sense to show it at exactly the same time as millions across America will see it.”
