Dharma Test Results Are In

For those of you that took part in the Dharma Wants You Recruitment program you can now see your test results and recommended position on the site. I, Samantha, have been qualified to be a gardener so I guess that would mean its the Orchid Station for me. The email sent by Hans Van Eeghen states that he and his co workers have left the states due to financial disaster, and that they have sold the Dharma Initiative to none other then Damien Lindelof and Carlton Cuse the LOST creators. What will happen to the newly recruited now?? I guess we can add this to the list of Lost’s unsolved mysteries. It would be great to hear what other positions people qualified for, so tell us by leaving a comment !!!!

Comic-Con 2008: sl-LOST.com Attends the LOST Panel Discussion

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof provided a glimpse into Season 5 at the standing room only event attended by over 6500 faithful Lost fans, many of whom had spent the night in line waiting for this moment.

At the panel, the producers indicated that with Lost now over four years old, financial backing was important and they were pleased to have received sponsorship going forward from the Dharma Initiative.

Hans Van Egan, Dharma’s head of recruiting was introduced to provide a highlight of the recruiting efforts. Mr. Egan indicated that Dharma was looking for top quality men and women and had undergone an extensive campaign of testing via ASRs (Aptitude Suitability and Readiness test). He indicated that to the crowd that the results of the recruitment effort were – Abysmal!

However they did find five individuals up to the standards of Dharma. These were introduced to the crowd and then taken back to the main floor to the Dharma booth for additional instruction.

Damon and Carlton then opened up the panel to questions form the audience. A summary of the Q&A follows but beware, these do contain a limited amount of spoiler information:

Did the island move at all when the Hatch was blown up? No.

What will be the fate of Jin and John Locke, will they be on the show in future episodes? Jin will be on the show in some form. You have not seen the last of these two characters. Death is a “relative” term.

Out of the entire history of the series, which episode and what season was your favorite? Carlton’s favorites were The Constant and Season 1; while Damon likes the Season 1 finale and Season 4.

There has never been a flashback episode for Rousseau. Will there be a flashback story for her? Damon indicated that we will see Rousseau’s story, however the term flashback would be disingenuous.

On behalf of animal lovers, what happened to Vincent? Carlton chuckled indicating that he was expecting a question on what happened to the people left on the island, but not one about the dog. He did say however, that Vincent made it and will appear not only in Season 5, but to the end of the series as well.

Will Kate and Sawyer see each other again? This received quite a chuckle from the crowd as Matthew Fox (Jack) had just made a surprise appearance and joined the panel. Damon said yes Kate and Sawyer would indeed see each other again.

How old is Richard Alpert and how many toes does he have? Carlton confirmed that Richard is quite old and we will learn about him and his background in the very near future. He will be shown barefoot at that time.

Just about at that time, one of the successful Dharma recruits, Dan Bronson, burst onto stage interrupting the discussion. He was visibly upset saying that after 4 seasons the crowd deserved “some freaking answers”. He held a video recorded up and demanded to have its content shown to the audience. After a brief commotion, the lights dimmed and his video of his recent time in the Dharma both was shown:

Following the unnerving details, which only led to even more questions for the stunned audience, Hans Van Egan rushed on stage yelling that the executive producers had made a mockery of his organization. Egan left in a flurry saying that he was pulling Dharma’s sponsorship of the Lost television series.

3. How are you feeling right now? (He answered “feeling great”).

5. What 3 words best describe you? (His answer: Energetic, Generous and Sporadic).
6. What’s your first memory? (He said “when I peed my pants while dancing at a wedding… I said I was 6 but i realize now I was 2″).
7. Who is your constant? (His mom).
8. A weird question like, if anything can happen does that mean that nothing can happen too? (He said yes).
9. Do polar bears make good pets? (He said yes, “because they are nice and furry”).

Then he saw pictures and had to say the first word that popped into his head.

1. A Young boy is squirting a hose onto a young girl (He answered “wet”).
2. A sign posted an a tree said ‘surprise?’ (He answered “interesting”).
3. A picture of a single lane road in the dark woods (He said “dark”).
4. A skeletal side view of the teeth and jaw (He said “mandible”).

He passed the test.

Comic-Con 2008: sl-LOST.com Attends Preview Night

sl-LOST.com got a sneak peak at Comic Con International on Preview Night, Wednesday in San Diego. If the massive crowds at this “insider” event were any indication, Comic Con will smash all prior attendance records this year.

At the preview event, we visited with Dharma Initiative representatives, whose presence at Comic-Con was first alluded to in the Octagon Global Recruiting ad shown in the Season 4 finale. While ever so polite and respectful, the stoic Dharma staff were most concealed as to their true intent, providing little information except that their role was to take applications for volunteer eligibility assessments (long since over subscribed given the massive crowds). Even the eventual outcome of a successful interview was deemed too secretive to share. Unknowing Comic-Con visitors, who were unfamiliar with the Dharma Initiative or its connection to Lost, were abruptly told to move along without receiving any background on the underlying intent of the Initiative or its khaki-clad staff. The few lucky individuals who secured assessment interviews were huddled into one of two tiny closet-like spaces within the Dharma booth and appeared to be interviewed from someone in a different location given the oversize headphones worn by the applicants.

One of the more helpful Dharma staff told me in confidence that the successful applicants would be introduced during the Lost panel discussion on Saturday, perhaps as part of a roll out of a new alternate reality game (ARG). Hours later, when I alluded to this seemingly insignificant tid bit to a more senior Dharma member, his response showed great concern, with wonderment as to who in particular provided such confidential information. Needless to say, I maintained the confidentiality as to my sources.

sl-Lost.com plans to attend the Saturday panel with Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and will report back with updates as they occur. In the meantime, here are a few photos of the opening night.

Comic-Con 2008: Octagon Global Recluting Test

At the Octagon Global Recruiting booth, fans are given a waiver form and an appointment time. At their appropriate time, they can enter the booth, which has cameras on the ceiling (these appear to feed outside the booth so observers can see what is going on). With a set of headphones and television equipment, participants are shown images and have to say what first pops into their heads. Some of the images are reportedly very bizarre. Questions are then asked such as “You just took away a child’s favorite toy. Why?”

The test apparently lasts about five minutes, and upon completion you are told whether you passed or not (its likely everyone will “pass” as part of the ARG). Participants are then told to make sure they see the Lost panel on Saturday, and have their test sheet with them (they apparently make a point of having your own sheet with you).

The whole thing sounds like elitist B.S., doesn’t it?
