Best Supporting Actor nominee Michael Emerson gave PopcornBiz his predictions for the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards:

Outstanding Drama Series
Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Good Wife, Lost, Mad Men, True Blood

Emerson’s Pick: “This is impossible to call. I have a sentimental favorite among them. But let me say, I’m really pleased that ‘Lost’ has been recognized in so many categories. That hasn’t happened since our first season. I’m proud we have this buoyant exit and so many of us will be there that night.”

“It’s a tough one. But the more we talk about it, the better I like ‘Lost’s’ chances. If that principle is true, I think ‘Lost’ has good a chance as any.”

Outstanding Comedy Series
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, Glee, Nurse Jackie, The Office,
30 Rock

Emerson’s Pick: “I have a soft spot in my heart for ‘Nurse Jackie.’ Something about the off-beat chemistry of that show. I really like it. I am sure the people that handicap these things think I’m crazy. But there you have it.”

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series
Jon Hamm (Mad Men) , Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights),  Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad),  Hugh Laurie (House),  Michael C. Hall (Dexter),  Matthew Fox (Lost)

Emerson’s Pick: “Matthew’s had an extraordinary run on the show, but I thought his game was of a very high order this last season.” Though he calls Chandler “a stellar talent,” Emerson is still blown away by Fox’s farewell: ”Talk about a framing device. Years ago his eye opened and years later it closes. And in that blink is an entire universe. That’s so great.”

Creative Emmy Awards: LOST Editors Win Emmy for ‘The End’, Michael Giacchino ROBBED

Congratulations to LOST editors Stephen Semel, Mark J. Goldman, Christopher Nelson and Henk Van Eeghan for winning this year’s Emmy award for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series. Sadly, the Emmy voters awarded the music score for “24″ instead of the amazing soundtrack composed by Michael Giacchino for LOST’s final season. Elizabeth Mitchell was snubbed too and did not win the Emmy for Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Damon Lindelof & Elizabeth Mitchell to Co-Present at Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Showrunners will get the celeb treatment at the Aug. 21 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Presenters for this year’s Creative Arts kudos — the precursor to the following week’s primetime Emmycast — will feature some of TV’s top showrunners, including Ryan Murphy (“Glee”), Damon Lindelof (“Lost”), Clyde Phillips (“Dexter”), Matthew Weiner (“Mad Men”) and Steve Levitan (“Modern Family”).

But the star wattage won’t be diminished: The showrunners will be paired with talent from their series. Murphy will be joined on stage by Jane Lynch, for example, while Christina Hendricks will share the podium with Weiner; Elizabeth Mitchell will stand next to Lindelof; John Lithgow will join Phillips; and Rico Rodriguez will stand with Levitan.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are set for Saturday, Aug. 21; a two-hour special of highlights from the kudofest will air Aug. 27 on E!

New Interview with Matthew Fox

On the heels of his first-ever Emmy nom and his much-buzzed-about departure from television after 18 years, Fox is finally getting lost. Together with his wife, Margherita, and their two children, Kyle and Byron, Fox is settling into a 10-acre ranch in Bend, Ore. — a world away from his former life shooting the series in the Aloha state. He opens up to THR’s Leslie Bruce about his Emmy nom, his plans for a post-”Lost” future and, of course, that final episode.

The Hollywood Reporter: An Emmy nom at long last! Are you feeling vindicated?

Fox: I had no idea the awards were being announced that day, but it’s very nice to be recognized. I thought the show had a really great season, especially with expectations being so enormous. I think that’s really saying something. I’m just looking forward to partying with the cast and raising a glass to the show.

THR: The series finale met mixed reviews among fans and critics. What’s been your response?

Fox: Obviously, the show left room for interpretation when the white light poured through. I don’t pay attention to how it was received. Damon (Lindelof) told me the ending two months prior and I was extremely moved. I thought it was absolutely beautiful.

THR: Dr. Jack Shephard was essentially the show’s “everyman” character. How difficult was it channeling such an iconic role?

Fox: I put a lot of myself into him, so it was tremendously emotional. He started as the hero of the show and we thought the audience would be bored out of their minds if he were the knight in shining armor all the time. We wanted to take the first four years and destroy him. So, that’s what we did. And in the end, Jack redeemed himself before he could move on; I think that’s why I was nominated. It has more to do with Jack than anything I was doing for six years.

Matthew Fox’s Reaction To His First Emmy Nomination

Matthew Fox sees his Emmy nomination as an excellent reason for one last Lost get-together.

“It gives me a great excuse to go to (the award ceremony) and hang out with all the people I did the show with. We’ll have a little reunion and raise a few glasses of champagne to what we did for six years,” says Fox, nominated in the lead actor category for the ABC drama.

He was especially proud that Lost received a best drama nomination for its final season, the heavily scrutinized culmination of a TV phenomenon. “I think the show had created enormous expectations this season and somehow we met or even exceeded them in some respects,” says Fox, who left Hawaii for the mainland with his family only a week ago. “Seeing the show getting the nomination and (executive producers) Damon (Lindelof) and Carlton (Cuse) and Jack Bender and the other actors getting nominated, I feel great about it.”

UPDATED: Team Darlton “Basking In” LOST’s Emmy Nominations

UPDATED: “As storytellers, you rarely get to end a story on your own terms,” executive producer Carlton Cuse tells EW. “Most shows kind of fade away or drop dead. We finished our story on our terms. Let’s face it, there were very high expectations for how Lost should end, and for us, it was enormously gratifying that we were recognized for doing a reasonably good job of ending the show.”

Executive Producer Damon Lindelof was particularly surprised by the wave of emotion he felt when Lost was announced as a contender for Outstanding Drama. “I basically started to weep,” he told EW. “I didn’t realize how much I was still holding on. My wife looked at me and asked what I was feeling, and I said ‘relief.’ You don’t want to say ‘Oh, my God I really want a nomination.’ We should just be proud of the work we did. And we are incredibly proud. But the fact that our peers still care about the show ended up meaning a lot more than I expected.

“There is kind of an out-of-sight, out-of-mind factor,” Lindelof continued. “Even with the addition of six nominees, four or five other ones easily could have been in the mix, and nobody would have said boo about it. We’re the only show in mix that is over. The fact that it got a nod in the final season is definitely gratifying.”

As for providing any kind of post-mortem about the finale, Lindelof and Cuse say they would prefer to stay mum. ”We’re not interested in dissecting our intentions and what the meaning of this or that was. It was purposeful ambiguity so fans can hopefully start to own the show for themselves.” And if they are lucky enough to take the Emmy stage come Aug. 29? Don’t expect any answers to your many burning questions then, either. Quips Cuse, “We will be so ecstatic to be on stage, we will be vapor-locked. I don’t know if, in that 30-second countdown, we’ll be able to provide a satisfying explanation for the finale.”

Lindelof: “It sounds so cliche that it’s great to be nominated but that’s what we’re basking in now. We don’t take this for granted. And the fact that the love was spread to Michael Giacchino, Jack Bender, the sound mixers and art direction is great. It’ll be cool to put on the monkey suits again and get together one last time.”

Cuse: “My strategy is to sleep through these type of things. I checked my phone and saw there were a lot of emails. Bad news avoids you like the plague. … For Matthew (Fox) , he’s labored almost unfairly on a show that’s more ensemble-oriented than the guys he’s competing aginst. Fortunately, the finale was Matthew-centric and he was finally given a chance to be front and center in such a way that allows voters to take notice. He was so critical to our show.”
